About

I’m just an everyday hobbyist whose hobby somehow became a job! I’ve been in the IT field for about 8-9 years, which makes up roughly half of my life. During this time, I’ve encountered and explored many technologies, areas, and solutions. I have several larger personal projects, and I’ve also been involved in numerous Hungarian projects. I enjoy participating in various Discord servers, where I love helping others with problems I’ve experienced myself.

My most frequently used programming language is Python, primarily for developing back-end applications and REST APIs. I recently started learning Assembly and Swift for fun! :D

PostgreSQL is my preferred database, making it the one I’m most familiar with. However, I have also worked with other SQL databases like MySQL, as well as NoSQL databases, primarily MongoDB. Additionally, I use in-memory databases, mainly Redis, but I’ve also used Memcached.

I don’t have a specific go-to system for server use, my only requirement is that it be Linux. I’m not a fan of Windows! :D For personal projects, I typically use Alpine Linux or Rocky Linux. For production use, I definitely prefer Rocky or another RHEL-based system, as I’ve encountered too many issues with Debian-based systems.

I’ve tried a variety of server hardware, working with Dell servers, HPE servers, and occasionally SuperMicro servers. I don’t think the brand of the server significantly affects the applications running on it. The main factors for me are expandability, storage options, and remote management. For example, I personally prefer ILO over IDRAC. And as for SuperMicro IPMI, just don’t talk about it… But it does get the job done!

I’m also experienced in networking solutions, primarily with Cisco devices, but I’ve worked with Juniper, Aruba and Netgear equipment as well. Additionally, virtualized firewalls and routers, such as OPNsense and VyOS, are not an issue for me. For home use, for example, I use OPNsense on a thin client that acts as my main router now! :P

For automation and CI/CD, I primarily use GitHub Actions, but I’ve also worked with open-source solutions like Gitness and Ansible. Additionally, I’m experienced with containerization solutions, and I regularly use Docker and Docker Compose in my daily workflow.

Other tools and technologies I use include: Git, Bitbucket, Jira, VScodium, Excalidraw, Postman, PGAdmin and BurpSuite.

Cloud and hosting solutions I use include: Netcup, OVH Cloud, AWS Route 53, AWS EC2, Exoscale S3, Bunny CDN, G-Core DNS, Netbird, Render, Scaleway, Psychz Networks, Netlify, and probably many more that aren’t coming to mind right now.
